If you go to a craft store like Michaels or know of any one who does Stampin' Up you can find whats called a color wheel. What you do is you pick a color like purple and it will show you all the colors that match with it and then you can see what matches best. Tan goes with anything. It's one of those nuetral earth tones. You should check it out though it can even help you match your clothes!

Green and purple are not normally colors that you would put together. However, if you had a green suit and a blouse that had small purple flowers that also had a lot of green in it then it might be OK. You are better off mixing strong colors like purple, green, orange with neutral colors like brown, navy blue, black, tan and white. If you do mix green and purple, keep it simple and make one an accent color and use it in a small amount.

You need to learn about the color wheel.
Green and Purple are considered bright secondary colors, but you can make them work together depending on things like value, chroma and hue. Bright green and Purple would not work so well together for the most part.
However, a soft pastel green and purple can work very nicely with a tan color.

It all depends on personal tastes sometimes, but you're going to get a mostly negative reaction to a purple and green combination unless it's jewel tones. (Amethyst and dark emerald, for example)
Generally warm neautrals such as brown, go well with reds, oranges and yellows, and cool neautrals like grey go better with greens, blues, and purples. Though you can put browns with cools and greys with warms. Look up a color wheel. Generally reds don't go well with greens exept for contrast, yellows vs purple, and orange vs blue. If you want to combine green and purple you should toss in a third color like blue, or a neutral to balance it out.

It depends on what it's for and what the shades are. Plum and sage green go together very nicely.
