Cell phones should be banned from schools, because I think they cause more problems then they solve especially it the kids using the cell phones are at a young age.

I don't think they should ban cell phones in school but, the use of them should be limited. When I was in school, cell phones were not as popular as they are today. If there was an emergency and you needed to make a phone call, you went to the phone booth or the office. If you wanted to talk to a friend, you waited til you saw them or you passed notes! Cell phones are more of a luxury for kids. I can understand parents wanting to keep in contact with their kids. But what did we do when cell phones weren't around? When I was in grammer school, there were no cell phones or pagers! In junior high school, we still had nothing! cell phones were the size of the phone booth and only doctor's and drug dealers had them! In high school, doctor's and drug dealers advanced to smaller phones! Very few of us had cell phones! The average person had pagers!

NO!!!!!!!!!!! My son is 6 and I got him one of those fireflies for emergencies. The school caught him with it and sent a note home with him that he was not to bring it back. Well being the type of person that I am, I shredded the note and put his phone back in his book bag the next day. He is a very smart little guy and he knows that it is for emergencies only. He did get on the wrong bus one day and if it weren't for that phone, I would have had a 6 year old little boy sitting outside all by himself. I told the school that he knows that it is for emergencies and I continue to put it in his bag every morning before we leave for school. I am one mother that you do not want to "F" with because I will win when it comes to my son. He is my pride and joy and don't tell me what I can and can't do. I pay my freakin' taxes and the school gets their money and I volunteer all the time and help out when needed. I will go that extra mile to ensure the safety of my son. OK, I feel better now :O)

I think cell phones should be banned period. The overuse of the cell phone is ridiculous. I see people driving down the road, in restaurants, walking through stores and there is no need for it at all.

Absolutely. There are pay phones there or the office for emergencies. In cars as well, they should have banned use. Pull off and make your "important" call. What could kids POSSIBLY have to talk about when the kids they are calling are usually in the next room and such?
They are banned where I work, too, and if you have one on the floor (large disocunt/general merchandise chain better than Wal*Mart) you can get fired on the spot.

yes cell phones should be banned because
1. the students get disturbed by th nonsense jokes
2. diverts attention away from lessons
3. everyone won't have cell phone but the guy who has feels superior above all and the one who don't have will feel inferior

No, I just think kids should have them off during class. They should have them in case of an emergency. Do you remember hearing about the girl who wad kidnapped a few weeks back? She was able to text her Mom and the cops found her.
