The movie that really moved me was Schindlers List. I saw the movie in highschool and I can still remember it to this day. It was a blizzard out and my history teacher required that his students see a film once a month on a topic from class and I was less than thrilled to go at first , but then I saw the movie and was very moved. Powerfull.

Gettysburg is historically accurate and worth seeing. Master and Commander, while depicting its time correctly, changed the enemy in the book to the French in the film, apparently to make it more palatable for American audiences.

if you want historical accuracy, try Tora, Tora, Tora (Pearl Harbor), Patton (biographical, WWII), 1776 (American Revolution), Midway (WWII), Raid on Antebe (Foriegn Political Conflict/Terrorism/Israel)...
Pearl Harbor and Saving Pvt Ryan were entertaining, but too much Hollywood for real accuracy...
