Well I am having a baby girl. Let me know things you did with your little girl or things I should aim at doing to make her smarter, more successful, athletic or whatever. Any tips, fun creative games, traditions that I can use in her life. I will be a single mom and my mother had me at 18 so my childhood was not all that normal. Thank you

Just love her unconditionally!! Give her all the love and support a mother should give her little girl. Play baby games with her and talk to her when she is born! Read to her even as a newborn. When she is able to see better play with her with her toys. Play her soft music at bedtime and cuddle her when she is feeling ill or cranky. Sing to her the alphabet song and nursery rhymes.Have patience and show her you care. She will grow up knowing you love her. Feed her healthy foods and avoid junk foods! She will be a healthy and smart little girl!! Good Luck and Congratulations!!

The important thing: read, read, read to her! Read and speak to her constantly - none of that insipid baby talk, either! Research has shown that speaking with a clear, normal voice to her will foster language development quickly; 'baby talk' has been shown to actually delay language development!

Reading to her will encourage her to read at a younger age and will foster her imagination, as well as lead her away from heavy TV and video game use when she's older.

Don't enforce gender roles when buying toys - if she asks for dolls for her birthday, fine, but don't assume she's going to want to to only "girly" things. I have two girls - one is a tomboy and the other is a princess :-P

You are who you are because of the way you were raised. There are no wrong ways or right ways to raise your children or any children for that matter. Just be you and do the best that you can to raise the child. You become who you are by the knocks you get as you grow up..,. So see . You yourself learned as you grew. that is what you will do as you raise your child........ Learn as you grow....

God bless and good luck

I think in today's world, she is going to need to know how to defend herself, and when to use this knowledge. She should know that it is not to be taken lightly, and only to use it if she is in danger. I've come across so many sexual predators in my life, and I'm only 21, that it isn't even funny. I was taught from a very young age how to defend myself. I never got into a fight. Never. But when the time came that a man tried to rape and kill me, I was able to fight back and use the skills my father taught me, and it literally saved my life. She should be enrolled in classes from very young (I'm doing this not only with my daughter, but my son as well) so that she understands that it isn't to be taken lightly. Best of luck.
