Pence, schillings, farthings, and pounds?

Can one of our wonderful British cousins explain the old system to a confused and curious Yank? I miss them!

LSD = L stood for Pounds = £1
S stood for Shillings = 20s equal £1
D stood for the pennies (pence) 1d = 12d equals 1s

and then there was a Guinea = £1.1s.0d. Two guineas £2.2s.0d
