I recently lost 13 lbs and I decided that I wanted to lose more. I came across this article (although I dont remember the name or where I saw it) that said that spicy foods help to speed up your metabolism or something like that. I was just wondering if anyone knew it that was true or not.

I don't think they will speed up your metabolism; however I have heard they can help you lose weight because they give you the feeling that you are full faster than plain food. That way you don't eat as much. Also you tend to drink more water with spicy food, and remember that drinking water is very important in weight loss.

Side-to-side, it depends on your metabolism, I have high and fast metabolism because when I was young I ate only vegetarain foods, and mainly consume ceral and drinks lots of milk. So now I eat 4-6 small meals a day... yet sadly Im still underweight and cant gain weight until next year.

Spicy foods help you sweat, but consider thise excerise an hour day.

Yes, I read about that too..aparently it does speed up the metabolism. Maybe do a search through Yahoo to find an article. I do love hot and spicy but I know that prolonged eating of it can cause problems like burns and ulcers in the stomach lining. I have a few Fijian/Indian friends who have required repairs to their stomachs. Nothing like a nice hot curry though.

You sweat a lot when you eat spicy food, & that helps you loose weight but not true for everyone. Some people might end up with heart burn

my husband is from Bangladesh and thats all they eat...when I went there for 6 months I lost 40 pounds without trying. Spicy foods are supposed to satisfy more and release endorphins just like exercise. Its not good for high bloodpressure though

Not only do spicy foods speed up the metabolism, the capsaicin in the peppers makes the stomach feel full longer, reducing the hunger pangs for a longer period of time. This is very true!

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Get started today!
