I am one for small tattoos myself, however I think 1 cm is just a little to small. I have tiny stars with one of my tattoos and I'm not happy with them, they almost look like a skin disease! LOL. I like the spot and I like the fact that you want small, but you should go just a little bigger! 2.5 cm would be ideal! Thats what I think

Think twice about getting a tattoo.
When it comes time to get a job, what will your perspective employer think about a tattoo which no matter how popular they become still hold a negative connotation?
It's expensive and painful to have a tattoo removed.
Will you still want that tattoo 5 years from now? 10? 20?
There is always a chance even small that you will contract a disease from the needle or the inks. It happens no matter how clean or reliable the person is who does the tattoo.
If there are any metals in the dyes and you have to have an MRI on that body part it's going to be extremely painful if the medical personal don't catch it. The strong magnetic field will actually pull the ink right out of your skin.
Finally, marking your body is prohibited in the Bible. If you are Jewish, you cannot be buried in a Jewish cemetery if you have a tattoo.

Anything under a 1/4 in is questionable. My dad has numerous tatts from 20+ years ago and any of the really small stuff just looks blurry. I suggest approx 1cm at least for lettering (dad's got a scroll w/ 1/4 lettering you cannot read)

Tattooing now is different than the old days. The needles used are much better quality. Now find a good tattoo artist. I have seen tattoo rings on fingers with exellent register after many years. Touch up is a good idea. The only real variable is you skin pigmentation.

owwwwhh hmmm That really depends I think. I would go with writing big enough to read plainly looking down with your arm down by your side.
