I think its the human nature to desire what we don't have.
The most of the people who have millions are generally hardworking and active people and I guess this is what enables them to get to that millionaire status. Such people always want to do something. They don't want to spend their time lying on the couch and hence even though they may be millionaire but they still keep working.
On the other people who don't have much money, don't have it because they are not working hard enough. Having said this, its not always the case but most of the time it is. Most of these people don't want to work for what they want to achieve, they want everything ready-made, they just want fun in their life without working for it.

well, if you're thinking that millions wouldn't be enough to live off of, just think that some people make forty or fifty thousand dollars a year.
so, a million dollars would probably secure you for twenty years, which is a pretty long time. you wouldn't be able to retire though i don't think, because you haven't worked for that money. is that right?
if so, then at some point you'd probably need to get another job.
(unless you had two three or four million dollars - that might be enough for a lifetime.)
as for doing nothing and not being bored, it all has to do with the interests you have and whether they're enough to satisfy your boredom by themselves. maybe you would need a job on the side. maybe you have lots of hobbies and can find things to do every day. personally, i think most people would have a lot of fun without jobs if they had enough money to spport their interests.

If by nothing you mean "not work" then you certainly can. Other than the money, which would not be an issue in the scenario you laid out, the best part of work is the social interaction with coworkers & the time it takes up during your day. As long as you can find activites that get you to be social & stay busy, you'll have a great life. I'd sign up in a second. I'd rather take a vacation with my family then crunch numbers, build a house or any other type of work.

Yes I think so. But if you derive a large chunk of your self esteem and social interaction from work then you'll probably keep doing the job I'd imagine.
The catch 22 being if you don't you're unlikely to have the sort of drive to work that would give you a chance to build a business that would make you rich. And if you did you wouldn't be satisfied with the money alone if you had achieved it etc
Personally I could absolutely do nothing (in terms of work) if I came into big money. More time with my family, more time with my friends, more time on my hobbies and interests, more time to travel, more time to indulge my curiosity. I think I'd be pretty busy but under no circumstances would I be getting on a commuter train ever again.
.....reminds me must buy a lottery ticket

Crikey! If I won millions I wouldn't have time to go to work - I would be too busy doing all the things that I enjoy. I don't understand people who win millions on the lottery and then go back to working in Tesco - they don't deserve to have the money - give it to people who would appreciate it I say. We have to work to live - but by working we are not living life fully.

yes you can have millions and not work because you could have alot of different hobbies and also you could travel the world and spend the money on ant thing to keep you happy.
Money is not everything but when you have millions you cannot go around with out doing nothing because you will become brain dead (slower in the brain) as it is not active enough

Yep, i would travel all over the world. I would travel by plane, by train, by ship their are so many places to see . I would skindive, hang-glide do all those things that is so expensive to do. I would spoil my family . I would buy a house small enough , not a large house , but with huge grounds and fill it with plants and flowers, so much you can do to keep yourself busy and then when you really really get bored you can get back to your computer and answer and ask some questions:)))

sure thing, you can have more than millions and do nothing, but is life really worth it if you have nothing to worry about, fight for?
i don`t think so, the charm of life is when you deserve something, and you get it with your hard work, and your own sweat.
it will taste a lot better,
trust me
