Wireless router and printer?

I have a linksys wireless router and a PC desktop(hardwired to router) and Macbook(wireless). Is there an adapter or way to set up a USB printer so it can be controlled wirelessly with the Macbook?

if you share the printer on the desktop and install it on your macbook you can print to it that way but then your desktop obviously has to be turned on to print
