I was a law major and when I had to do my science papers I did it on the legalities of stem cell research and whether or not it should be premitted and the arguements that have been presented. It turned out well and there is so much info out there for you to use.

here are some ideas off the top of my head:
detection of other solar systems
human stem cell research
effects of pollution on animal development
(I saw an interesting article about pollution causing female fish to become male, and also causing extra limbs on frogs)
nanotechnology -- uses in medical science, engineering, etc.
global warming
exploration of Mars
extreme environments and the organisms that live there
implications of the human genome sequence
the biological basis of memory

something that is of great interest to you, this would almost ensure you to have a good paper, and also you would learn something new and more on the subject. Since i do not know your interest, this is difficult for me to access. Good luck and God bless.

do something fun! try something in the social science arena- psychology related maybe? for example, do people who believe in kharma, live happier lives? there's probably preexisting data you can find on the net, which you could supplement with a survey you conduct yourself!

Depending on where you live, anything related to soil contamination and cleanup, habitat revitalization, new energy sources are good choices.
