firstly, my pc didn't recognise the iPod. Then it recognised it and it is charging but shows 'Do not disconnect' sign. BUT ITS TURNED IT INTO MONOCHROME IPOD. and also after every 10 mins it says that the ipod battery is low charge again. shuts down and starts again the same way.

Take it back to the place where you bought it and explain it to them that the iPod is defective and ask for a new one.

if your ipod isn't charging, it's possible that the USB port you're connecting it to isn't powered. try connecting it to a different USB port.

do you have iTunes installed? by default, iTunes will open whenever you plug your iPod into your computer. if you've changed these settings in iTunes, then your iPod is set up to be used as a flash drive and until you click on the USB remove hardware icon in the system tray, it'll continue to flash 'do not disconnect'.

if you continue to have problems with it and you've determined that it's not a configuration issue, then i would return the iPod for an exchange.

good luck.

Take the ipod back and tell them you want your money back. Then invest in a different brand besides apple. There are plenty of other manufacturers out there to choose from that are more stable and consumer based. Apple sucks.

the battery is dead - ask Apple for an exchange (if it's less than a year from your purchas eit'll be for free).
