I don't think it will ever come off your record. 20 years from now if you are picked up for assault they will read that record and tell you that this is your second time for this crime.

You can get an attorney and they will have the record expunged for a small but not insignificant fee (about 3000). But you may also be able to give a letter of explanation to the dept and they will overlook it. You just have to disclose the facts when you are applying. You did disclose that right? Anyway, you should get that expunged. Not sure if you can get away with not revealing the charge even after it is expunged though...But the attorney should be able to tell you that...

Well, I'm not certain on this, but I "think" it's seven years. I
would call and ask, or go to the library and look it up in their law books. You might even be able to go to a police station and ask. Or just print it on your forehead and hope that someone with legal knowledge sees it. (Just kidding) sorry, I got ahead of myself there. But I remember a friend of mine, in the same situation was told 7 years, but it may also depend on which state you live in. Either way, good luck.

It CAN be removed! Check with an attorney - If you have no others, you can petition the court to have it purged. I had a petty theft charge removed (cost me about $500, but it was worth it to have my record cleaned and not have to be punished the rest of my life for a mistake made during college.) (What a bunch of self-righteous idiots who answer these questions!)

Forever. Your record is public and is forever. It is never removed. You can only get this expunged. However it can still be used in court on some situations. However, somthing that happened 10 yrs ago would probaby not have much bearing anymore.....

its never off the record comletely, but since its only a misdeamanor, who cares? Some places dont bother checking past three years, some may go ten, if you want a job with the secret service they will check your parents history out.

That isn't going to come off of your record at all, unfortunately.

Crimes stay on your record forever. It's not like points on your license people!
CRIMES YOU COMMIT AS AN ADULT WILL REMAIN ON YOUR RECORD FOR-E-VER.
