The fashion industry sees it as important. But I don't think the general public does. And I don't see a need for wasted air space for girls that won't even eat their share of food. You know what I think they should do...instead of coming across a model in countries that don't have poverty, they should look in 3rd world countries for thin models. People that are actually starving to death. Get them dressed up to model the clothes because they didn't ask to be thin. At least the money they make would be going for a good cause instead of funding any more designers on this earth that make nothing but crap for clothes.

People who get paid a lot accrue a certain amount of respect, no matter how lacking their other attainments may be. Models can be dumb as a stick, but most will wind up millionaires if they stay in the game. Millionaires get respect, whether they are worthy of it or not. A model will be as rich as a lawyer or doctor. That tells you something about their cachet in society at large.

God is no respector of persons, the Bible says. Why should I be?

I'm afraid it might be the least important job in the history of the world. Which is why models are required, I believe, to be absolute idiots. Can't waste talent like that.
