Do a search on the Internet for

The American Radio Relay League

then on that site

select

Radio Amateurs Handbook

In that text you will find many diagrams of power
supplies with fixed or variable output voltages.
Some have regulators; some are unregulated.

However, it is far easier to purchase a suitable unit
from the Marlin P. Jones & Assoc. Company. They
have many many overstock items and discontinued
items which are perfect for projects. You can visit
their site at

www.mpja.com

or call them at 1-800-652-6733

You will need to know ahead of time:

Desired Output voltage
Desired Current Output
regulated or unregulated
Variable or fixed voltage
Input voltage such as 115 VAC 60 Hz
equipped with meters (for monitoring) or not
