ur in a sense right.. but not all the governments are like that..there are some governments that sqeez the people and left them with nothing..such leaders think only about their life, their relatives and family and friends..the general population is not their concern at all..
however there are some governments that really work for the good of the citizens, to get them a better future, a better life..

I do actually agree with you,you are only free, if you can afford it. That is one of the pitfalls of a capitalistic society. The original concept of the Constitution did make rulings to allow for some personal freedoms, yet over the years, we have subverted the true meaning of those words. Our politicians, and media have used various perceived threats in order to manipulate the will of the people. I use to tell people that if they don't vote they have no right to complain, but now even if you vote, it counts for nothing, you can almost see right through the lies now days, the government does what ever they choose now days they just pretend to listen.

If you feel like your freedom is being snatched away, then I recommend that you do something about it. Go to a University and study law or political science. Become a believer in the Constitution of the United States. The fore fathers of the United States of America wrote one of the most beautiful documents not yet matched by any governing power. I feel it is OUR duty as citizens to see that these precious freedoms are protected.
Good Luck and Take Care

What you are saying is about 70/30 I would say . And the 70 percent is on the bad side. I have some inside information on what go's on around the beltway. There are several key problems in place. The number one thing is special interest groups or what they like to call lobbyists. get rid of them and alot of problems would be solved however that is just one point. It would take me all day to write evry point on here and maybe even all week. But yes I agree to some extent we are all prisoners. Be very careful of the patriot act. It is a very dangerous bill.

It's called responsibility. Why don't you go live in Afghanistan, Syria, or even a small village and China and tell me what THAT feels like. You're so lucky to be in a country where the government doesn't care what religion you are, lets you go to the church of your choice, and gives you the right to elect your government. You're so fortunate and don't even know it.

We submit our free will to government in exchange for security, its always been like that. We assimilate into the machine like cogs on a wheel without even thinking about it. Even the most "successful" of us are just very good at conforming.

We are not prisoners, but the world judges us by our Government's action even though we do not agree with their policies!

Yeah, sh*t happens. Then we die. Kinda puts a damper on that whole "freedom" thing.
We are only prisoners to the limitations of our own minds.
