There's actulay 2 seperate answers to this, but they are both 'no, it's not evil' and 'yes, it should continue to be celebrated'.
1. For most people halloween is just an excuse to dress up in a costume, throw a party and eat candy. It's a chance for adults to release their inner children and for children to express their creativity (and did I mention get loads of candy?). What is evil in dressing up and having fun. For the most part anything religous about it was squeezed out ages ago. The only argument here for not celebrating it is that it is likely the leading cause for cavities.
2. Not to completely flip on 1. or anything, but there is a religon that still does celebrate Oct. 31. It is a holliday called Samhain (pronounce like sow-en) and primarly celibrates the end of the harvest season. Looking a little further into it, it is also a time for remembering the dead. This is primarly due to what's happening at this time of year. Everything's dieing and going to sleep for the winter. Is this an evil, occult holliday due to this? If so, I would suggest that Memorial day should also not be celebrated.

Halloween is NOT an evil holiday. It is a day (like memorial day) when we celebrate and remember the lives and times of departed dear ones. I don't know where the candy and costumes come from but I consider them to be JUST GOOD FUN.

I think there are different ways to celebrate it. I come from a very strict family (And I am a Christian) and I have always celebrated Halloween in some way. I don't like all the witches and monsters and demons and things, but I do like celebrating Halloween. And i go CRAZY with my costumes. I'm turning my hair green this year!

Halloween is mostly a celebration of the dead, sort of like Memorial Day of day of the dead It is supposed to be in honoring not in fearing the dead. It is not an evil thing and was never supposed to be. It is what you make it.
It is my favorite day of the year. The weather is great, the free candy, the happy kids in costumes.....I love it. There is nothing evil about it....it's just fun.

Now a days people just try to find anything that looks evil and make it out as evil. If you don't believe it being evil it is not if you believe it to be evil it is. I believe it is a day that children and even adults dress up and have fun and what is so evil about that?

I hate Hallowe'en! Taking all the spiritual elements out of it I find it has no redeeming qualities whatsoever and should be done away with. One may argue it is fun for the kids but I wonder how the promotion of greed, obesity, and rotten teeth is of any benefit to a youngster. I have known little kids to be frightened out of their wee minds by Hallowe'en and the damage the older kids do to property and to the younger ones is criminal.I say do away with it!

This day is not any more evil than any other day. For a Christian, we must always be on guard against the spiritual forces arrayed against us.
Ephesians 6:12-13, "For our struggle is not against )flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm."
There are two types of people in this world, those who are blind and bound under Satan's control, they choose to live for themselves and reject Christ's rule over them, and those who have had their bonds broken by God, who are free to serve Christ, and they then choose to follow Christ. For the free man in Christ, "all things are lawful, but not all things are profitable" 1 Corinthians 6:12. So, your question demands more than one simple answer. For a Christian, it is ok to paritcipate in Halloween, but the question a Christian must ask is "in the way I will participate, how can I do it to glorify Christ and share the gospel?" (Another suggestion is to remember the start of the Reformation, when Martin Luther posted his 95 theses to the door of the church at Wittenburg) For an unbeliever, this day is no different than any other day of evil. For an unbeliever is in a constant spiritual state of death, and if Halloween has any significance, it should bring this truth to bare on this one day the world actually acknowledges that "spiritual powers" exist.

For young children it is a holiday to go trick 0r treating and getting candy!
But as you grow older, you learn a lot
about the pagan holiday: cults who
serve satan, Cults sacrificing babies and children and even adults, Grave
Robbery, blood drinking rituals, Satanists who totally worship Satan and also will be spending eternity with him forever!
Yes, I do let my granchildren who are innocent, go trick-or-treating for candy, and parading their costumes, but as they get older it's not so important anymore. My children are christians and have gone to the alter themselves. So I know where their heart is.

Of course not. It's no more evil than Harry Potter books or whatever the latest "evil" is.
Small minds with no lives - dangerous combination.
