Photosynthesis uses light energy to produce ATP and NADPH, that can be utilized to anabolize sugars like glucose that can be used in the metabolism of autotrophs. Cellular respiration metabolizes glucose to create ATP that can be utilized directly by the cell to provide the energy for everyday life.

They are opposite processes. Photosynthesis uses energy from light to reduce carbon in a (22???) step procedure. Respiration oxidises carbon in a similar, long procedure.
