Beer has been around a lot longer than either of us.
Have a look at this Aussie site:
http://www.fosters.com.au/enjoy/beer/history_of_beer.htm
And this one about American brewing history:
http://www.beerhistory.com/
And the best site for last about beer in ancient times:

P.S. This is without doubt the funniest question and absolutely most hilarious answers for a question I've read on here.
I don't get much of a chance to laugh out loud, thank you I thoroughly enjoyed it.

a bear begins to drink his mothers milk minutes after birth. i presume stupidity would make one drink bear. I do not recommend trying that at home ... or anywhere for that matter could come with serious reprecussions. What kind of bad dates do you think people have that would make them try to drink or dring bear. the only thing i can think of that would make the first dringer to drink is thirst or a trigger pulled back on a gun held to the dringer's head. ps the thirst would have to be the intense kind you have after 3 4 weeks in the desert without water and even then that would not accomplish much except maybe to fill a hungry bear . Hope this answer helps you and that you dont try this at home

Bear drinking commenced around about the time of the invention of the electric liquidiser.
Though frankly, trying to force a bear into a liquidiser is an uneviable task.

I think it's a fair bet that bear drinking began pretty much when bears began, and that what made them drink was getting thirsty, probably on their first day. Sorry I can't be more definite!

The rich drank wine and the poor stagnant water.
The monks started brewing beer and found it to sterilise the water.
Then followed fermentation that provided a little alcoholic lift.
Most original pubs were in the church grounds.

Wow, one sick dude must have come up with the idea of drinking bear juice. Nasty. Suggest he try beer, it's been brewed and drunk for over 4000 years.
