The Macs are brilliant, I've always used one because they are idiot proof and user friendly. They won't let you do anything you shouldn't, they ask if you are sure. Not only that they come with many applications such as iTunes. The even have a web site builder that is as easy as typing here.
They are also faster than the fastest PC.

My current laptop is a Powerbook G4 which i've had for a few years now. I've had Mac computers before then and have worked over the past ten years on AppleMacs. They are very user friendly and fairly easy to set up. Before them i had not really used computers and have only used pc just recently at work (where i use both). Mac has good software which comes installed on it such as iphoto and itunes. The only downside is that most of the places you download music from are pc orientated so their downloads don't work on mac although i find itunes covers my own needs.

I have had an iBook G4 for over 3 years now, and it works as great as the day I bought it. I love it. You should not have any problems with the mac book. Good luck,

I've had an iBook G4 for 2 years now and I love it! No problems with it at all. My husband has had 2 eMachines since then and both have had to be sent in for hard drive repairs. Hope that helps.

I have just bought one and absolutely love it. It takes some getting used to after being used to conventional PCs, but once you do, it is such a doddle. Also, you can create videos, slideshows, your own music, and DVDs with the standard software.

if it's a new one i'd reasonably expect that you could get 4-5 years practical use from it, so long as you're not power-greedy...
