I'm surpised onbody got this one right yet! Guess there's no philosophy majors out there. LOL. Anyway, an idea is a thought regarding how to do something, or make something differently. It usually applies to an innovative way to approach something that has not occured yet.
A concept, on the other hand, usually refers to a way to look at or perceive something that has not ocurred yet; it is more like an outlook, or a theory. In fact, it can even be an opinion. But the scientists find it more professional to say "this is my concept of time travel" rather than "this is my idea about it," LOL.
Both terms CAN be interchanged, but that would be slightly inaccurate.

I suspect like most things, the answer depends upon ones range of experience. I refer to "concept" as being that form of understanding that one acquires by way of intuition, where it is in concept form [or the whole of something] before one begins thinking about it. Once one begins thinking about the intuited concept, all the Esoteric or material that includes energies other than physical are dropped by ones brain because ones brain is incapable of perceiving any energies other than physical. Ones brain applies words that refer to physical phenomenon or abstract words to interpreting the concept.... and this forms an "idea".

The idea is most often quite less than was the initial intuited concept.

By the way, many books on mysticism suggest that on all planes of existence other than the physical plane, all communication is in the form of "concept". Or containing multiple plane references in one bit of communication. This is not possible with those limited to use of the Left-hemisphere of the brain only. For those individuals who are naturally psychic, or have learned to access their MIND realms, communication in concepts is possible and routine.

Peace
