I took a hpt 4 days before my period and it was neg. Is this accurate?

Well, yes it was accurate.

I think the question you are trying to aks is could you still be pregnant. And yes, you could. Not too many women actually get a + before they miss their period. All the tests that say you can test 5 days before your period are misleading. It all depends on when the egg implants and how quickly your hormone levels rise as to when you can test positive.

If you miss your period, test again.

It can be accurate, but only a few home pregnancy tests "theoretically" work up to 4 days before a missed period. I wouldn't assume it's definately a negative, since you did it before it's guaranteed (or about as guaranteed as home pregnancy tests get) to work.

If you actually have a late period, try it again on the first or second day (in the morning) that you should be starting. That will probably offer a better chance at an accurate reading.

Those early pregnancy tests dont always work. You should still wait until the day after you miss your period for it to be accurate. I took a test several days before and it too was neg, then I waited until about 2 days after my missed period and it was pos. Im now 17 weeks pregnant.

YES it is accurate...but id wait another week and take another one...hormones build up different in peoples bodies if you still think you are after the next weeks test go to the doctor and get a blood test...goodluck and keep trying
