LOL, YES! It is suggested that you stay inside when there is lightning in the area with or without a Cell phone, or a nine iron, or umbrella...get the picture? The Cell Phone mute point when it comes to this warning.

If you're using it inside a structure and away from windows I don't see how lightning could zap you.

However - every time you use a cell/mobile phone you're exposing your brain to radiation. If you frequently talk on the thing you raise your risk of achieving brain tumors or mental maladies. This has been reported time and time again by scientists - but there is so much money being made off these little wonders of communications, its downplayed heavily. Kind of like cigarettes and the health problems they cause.

RULE: Use your Cell Phone only as needed. Don't use it for frequent gossip/chat fests. The more exposure the higher the risk. The less exposure, the less the risk.

Lastly - I am amazed at how many people don't believe this. Time will tell.

Apparently. It may attract the lightning to the user. It's a bit like using an umberella or waving a golf-club in the air.
Did you know it can also be dangerous to use an ordinary house phone too? Where I used to live in Liverpool, UK, someone got zapped by lightening through the receiver when it struck the wire outside the house while she was talking. It travelled down the phone wire and blew her across the room!

Not a particularly high chance...
Depends whether the mobile phone is covered in metal or plastic... and how big it is.... I can't imagine it makes any more of a difference than that. Just think of it as a metal / plastic block you hold to the side of your head.

Your reception might be messed up though, as the signal masts used for transmitting mobile phone signals could well be hit by lightning, and I'm not sure how protected most of them are.

Yes because electricity attracks thunder and lightning. It just like the phone is a magnet. But if your far away from the thunder and lightning then you should be fine. Better safe then sorry !!!

Not as easy as that simply because the repeater transmitting stations are the first to be affected not your mobile phone or even yourself. But under a certain circumstances in case your nearer to the mask/post/pole which is not properly earthed you are likely to be affected.Due to electromagnetic field around.
