They can. Any time you accept files from an untrusted source you take the risk of infection with malware.

By their nature, torrents have the greatest possibility of spreading infection. Torrents are not shared from a single site, but are an amalgam of data from many sites. Accessing a torrent from a specific site does NOT mean you're getting it from that site. You're only accessing the torrent "seed". The actual files are scattered all over the globe potentially.

yes some do;

when you download torrents from say like thepiratebay.org, sometimes other users warn other users in the comments box before they download that that file contains a virus, its a risk you take when downloading torrents you just never know until youa ctually finish downloading the file you want, if you have avast! installed like me its good a warnings, that files contain a virus etcc...

noes, torrents r cleen if ur usin gibson computer. if nt, then ur have ZERO KEWL virus which hacks entire system.
