I don't understand. Most of my friends from high school (and now in college) are always like "dude, let's get drunk" (girls and boys). All they talk about doing on the weekend is how drunk they got.
I've had really bad experiences with the few times I've drunk alcohol in excess, and I just don't understand why they think it's so cool too be outta their minds without being able to tell right from wrong? So many things could happen, for example, girl gets drunk, guy takes advantage of her, she gets pregnant. So why do they do that???

I don't understand it either. I got so drunk one night that I threw up the next morning more than 3 times and was sick all day, even the day after.. That's 2 days of a hangover. There is nothing glamorous about it. Society in general makes it seem like drinking is the thing to do, that's why a lot of people think it is cool. It's not, I've seen too many people lose their life to alcohol and drugs. Families torn apart. It's just not worth it. Having a glass of wine every now and then may be fine. I choose not to even do that.

When I was a teenager I thought it was cool to get drunk, but hindsight has won out. For one thing what is so cool about throwing up and ruining clothes, cars, carpet or friendships? Alcohol is a depressant and doesn't help with mood disorder. It can destroy your brain. Today, I can reflect back and realize how it destroyed my father and say thank you for making the decision I did to stop drinking. I have not touched a drink since 1975 and will never again do so.

They're bored. And dull. The only thing that excites them is dulling their brain cells. I actually enjoy a beer now and then, but if it's in excess, I'll feel horrible the next day. If I were them, I'd try to find a better way to spend my time. Take up a sport, find a hobby, enjoy school, volunteer to help others in need... You can't do those things with a hangover.

If you hang with college people who say, "like dude, let's get drunk", YOU are hanging with the wrong group. It's not cool, never was cool, and never will be cool.
In five years check out the drop out rates, if they don't straighten up their act, and then say I'm wrong....you won't be able to.
You're supposedly a adult, doing an adult job, which is trying to learn something and get a degree. Do it.

I agree. I think a lot of them are bored in their towns, and like the altered state of consciousness. Then there is a few that can't stop. If you ever want to see where those hard core drinkers end up, just visit a jail, cemetary or see the people begging for money in a big city.

Amen sister!! Your preaching to the choir!! One of my roomates loves to play beer pong and being drunk is one of her favorite things to do. One day she was seating in the living room area with a friend she was very drunk and smoking weed. Its crazy. I think drinking makes people look like idiots its not cool to me. A few drinks are fine and maybe getting a little tipsy is okay.

There are different crowds in high school as in life.
Those people think they are cool. They are not.
Find a group of people who best suit your personality, your beliefs, your interests and do things with them. If not, you will be sucked into the bad kid influence and believe it or not....guys do not like bad girls as girl friends. They like them for sex. Be the nice girl. Don't do what all the village idiots are doing.

Nothing better to do with there time, people like that need to get a hobby, and if they don't most of them end up alcoholics with no jobs on welfare, its not so cool then!

People are ignorant. Right now they might think it's cool cause they are young, but eventually they will realize they made a mistake when they are one of those losers that sit on the couch drinking beer with their big fat beer bellies

On the COOL topic, very cool for some reason. its a Act of whos popular who can drink more and who can forget there problems. sometime its the getaway, to make you forget you problems, but in doing that you do put yourself into harms way i agree
