According to Yahoo, it's 100. I have 7 percent best answers and 92 percent others!

Okay, I know it's because they've rounded things off, but it still looks silly!

I checked the actual numbers for your user name and found that you have 1471 total answers with 103 best answers, so that means that you have 1368 not best answers.

Actually it looks like Yahoo Answers just drops the decimals completely.
103/1471 = 7.0020...%
and
1368/1471 = 92.99796...% which would round up to 93%

So they must just truncate the decimals completely.

They used a computer program to do the math
and that program failed to have a line of code
that said:

% best answer subtracted from 100 = % other

They just rounded off the numbers and posted them.

It is probably due to rounding off the answer. It is a good lesson on why you should not use rounded off figures to derive a final answer which is rounded off itself.

it is 99 because algorithms at Yahoo run on integers... probably, because it is much faster and takes less processor clocks... it is more of a question about programing then mathematics.

Computers can not think in decimals so you normally would avoid using decimal numbers in calculations as they are a lot slower and bigger... and so on.
