I've not watched Neighbours for a while and when I switched on the other day, the gangsters daughter Carmella is a nun!!! What's that all about? Can somebody explain please?

The reasons for Carmella becoming a nun have yet to be fully explained; although her own justification is partly over guilt at her past life. However in the past couple of episodes she has shown a determination to keep her identity private from all but the Ramsey Street regulars, which leads me to believe that she is hiding something or from someone.
My instinct also is that the nun thing won't last as she's clearly attracted to Ned.
I suspect it was just a bizarre way of bringing Natalie Blair (who has always been a popular character with the fans) back into the show on a full-time basis.
I believe that when a character currently on the opening credits leaves shortly, she is added to the credits.

well carmella (the gangsta-mafia boss' daughter!) became a nun after her splitting up with Conner she found god or something and wants to give back to the community for all she has done. I think thats how she got there anyway...
btw does any1 else really hate that cheesy NED?

She is a nun but still goes to pubs, clubs and flirts with men. Sounds like a good life.

yes she felt guilty over selling her sisters baby or something now she has given that up because that guy who she is living with is in love with her and she likes him to now she is having a cat fight with katita over the same man who made her stop going though with being a nun it twisted crap i wish that guy would make up his mind and come out of the closet he is so gay if i could remeber the name its the brother of the copper living with them and toddy awhile back

cos she felt so much guilt over trying to split connor and serena up and then serena dying made her decide to repent her sins and become a nun!!
