it's disturbing me already. i have to set it to 1024 evrytime i start up. i'm running on windows xp service pack two. how can i fix this please?

Usually that is not an issue with the monitor, but with the graphic card. Check to see if there may be an update to the graphic drivers for your video card. If not, then uninstall and reinstall the current drivers and see if that resolves the issue.

If just reinstalling the graphics driver doesn't fix it, try removing the component from the Device Manager and rebooting - the video card should be recognized again after the reboot, and the drivers reinstalled, etc. Sometimes something gets hung up, and without removing and redetecting the component it won't clear up.

install the proper graphics dirver and motherboard inf.

improper device driver causes this problem.

reinstall graphics drivers. they are conflicting and that is the reason they go back to default resolution.
