Problem with windows 2000: it is slow at "Preparing Network connections" existing in a network.
it is a DHCP client.
DHCP and DNS are active directory integreted.

There are many possible causes. Here are a few to look at for starters.

2. Disjoint AD DNS namespace

3. Excess machine specific Goup Policy objects.

4. Invalid DNS or WINS information handed out by DHCP.

5. Forced synchronous GPO processing.

try this on run


netsh int ip reset reset.txt

it will refresh the tcp.ip protocol on PC and will not take much time.

or search for reinstalling tcp/ip on PC.

upgrade to windows xp professional to get better preformance and easer handling and faster spped, if it 's your company computer tell your boss he needs to upgrade the computer and the opeating system.
