I am very proud to be an American, but it has nothing to do with who is in the Oval office.
And no, I don't think he's done a great job. I think he's done possibly irreversible damage to our great nation. His foreign policy has made the world less stable. He spoiled a once united world (for Pete's sake - 1 Million people marched in Tehran in support of the US after 9/11). His economy is up on average, but that average is skewed toward the rich. The gains being made are being made by a few. The housing market is on the verge of collapse. Even if you initially supported the war, it was so poorly planned, that I don't understand how you could support it at this point. The Taliban is stronger now than they've ever been since their toppling.
There has to be a change. I am still proud to be an American. I am not remotely proud of the job my government is doing. Those are two distinct things.

OMG. You are the biggest dumbass to think that Bush is doing his "job". He has not made America safer, he has made us more vulnerable. Liberal media is not trying to destroy him, just voicing their opinions, which, in this case are accurate. Stands up for what he believes, yea sure. What does he believe in? Oh, thats right, he is pro-life. But how exactly can he be against abortion when thousands of our own citizens, and thousands of Iraqi citizens have so far been killed in a superfluous war, with more killed every day! He willl do anything it takes to protect America, you say. Well I have nothing against his decision to invade Afghanistan, but I would like to know why we are in Iraq. Oh, thats right, there are WMD's in Iraq. Oops, there never were any WMD's. We are only over there for the oil. Bush is also a facist, conservative, hippocritical, lying, cheating, warmongering, fraud. Wow, I never thought I would miss Nixon!
I hope I have enlightened you

It makes no difference who is President , we should always be proud to be legal American citizens. I may not like some of his policies but that is part of what makes America so GREAT . That is why we vote for a new president every 4 years , If we do not like what he did in the past 4 years we vote for somebody else . It is called democracy !!!!

I do think that we live in one of the best countries in the world however, I believe that George Bush, Dick Cheney, and Don Rumsfeld will be seen in history as failures. Why you ask? Well aside from the fact that George Bush comes off as less than intelligent when he speaks, mixes religion with politics as much as the very counties that he opposes, and truley believes that every country should have democracy but ours, he is doing as good a job as can be expected from someone with his track record. Dick Cheney is a "do as I say not as I do" kind of man. He is all about "what's in it for me" and who cares about the average American. Don Rumsfield can not get out of his own way and is in over his head in terms of his job.
I know that there are some who will not agree with this and that is okay because that is what makes this country so great.... at least for the time being. You can speak your mind and you won't disappear ...but that too could likely change.

It flies in the face of reason to say that Americans who love their country would hate a President who will do anything it takes to protect America. Nor would we hate a President for standing up for what he believes in. That's what we look for in a leader, leadership and conviction. It's about George Bush the individual and has been all along. I think the guy feels he has no boundaries and the fact that he will do ANYTHING to "protect" this country scares the h-ll out of me.

My sense of patriotism or pride in being an American has nothing to do with Bush or any other president and your cliche's about the liberal media are getting old.
There have been about a dozen presidents in my life time. There have been presidents who have made me proud made me angry made me embarrassed. When we invaded Iraq and beat the hell out of what was by that time a defenseless country he made me ashamed to be an American. He was the only president to ever make me feel that way and I can never forgive him for that.
Made us safer? He's turned Iraq into a training ground for terrorists.

I am proud. President Bush shows that even a person who has had some issues in life and has dealt with them can do anything!
He drank...so did I
He may have done drugs- So did I
He stutters sometimes...so do I
He stands by his word...so do I
He isnt perfect and I disagree wih some policies but I think he will be seen by future generations as the President who woke America just in time to save ourselves from Islam

Exactly what is he doing to keep the US safe. Swatting a hornets nest? Creating enemies? Have you ever listened to his speeches? He talks in circles. I'm totally appalled that he is the President. This is not our war. Where's Bin Laden? What about the poor souls, American citizens, that suffered through hurricane Katrina. What was being done to protect those people? What if there's a major catastrophe near your home? Do you feel safe?
I could go on and on. Not my President.

Yes I am proud to be an American. I think President Bush has done an outstanding job. The Times is a rag and I'm glad they are losing readership at alarming rates and have to do more layoffs. Liberals are pushing their socialist agenda. Perhaps Moscow is growing impatient with their lack of progress.
