You're very Limited with a Shuffle!
The amount of Songs depends on How Long those songs are,and If you have imported them from iTunes on a Mac or P.C.!
Importing from a Mac Based iTunes allows you to Compress the files Tighter(Whilst Keeping the quality of Output High!).
You could Potentially get an extra 10 Songs on top of the 250 Standard!

if each song is approx 4 mb, doin the math (512/4)=128 songs

As far as I know, 250 songs. I know. I hate iPod shuffles.
