I suppose arguably it could depend on what they have done. For example, you would be considered a sex offender whether you have sexually assaulted a person or if you are looking at internet pornography or if you are a 17 year old having sex with an under 16 year old.
In any case, putting someone of this nature behind bars for 10 years and then letting them out again is not really any punishment as far as I can see. These types are segregated from other non-sex offenders and mix therefore with their own type. How is that punishment? Merely putting someone in a cell does not solve them problem. They should be made to attend classes or whatever to re-educate them to make them less of a threat once released.

It depends on the offender. I don't think an 18 year old having consentual sex with a 16 year old should do any jail time, especially if the female is 18 and the male is 16. It is different. Real rapists on the other hand should do more than 10 years.

I cannot support for the death penality, which is more barbaric and savage. In case of sexual offenders, they are psche and socially depressed people. As long as 5 to 10 years sentences we can take them in rehabilitation center. In the civilized society, I cannot imagine the death penality, rather let them realize at first. There are multiple example, who has realized their crime and become a good person. On the other side, we cannot be always be sure that there will always be investigated a crime person.

No I dont believe it is. 10 years sentence is that actually doing 10 years or just the half they would normally do. Therefore they only do 5 but with a bit of good behaviour they might end up doing 4.

Deterrent??? my goodness they only get meaner in prison it has never shown to be a deterrent.
Whether the time served is enough depends upon the severity of the crime.
Also an eye for an eye or murder by the state has never prooven trully effective ohhh sure it murders the perp however what does it teach.
We are too civilized to do what should be done with men or women, which is make it impossible for them to do their act again yet remain alive.

why give them any time at all? just cut their fingers and genitalia off, they scarred someone for life in a pretty horrible and $hitty way they should be scarred back in a pretty horrible and rotten way as well, to hell with wasting the tax payers dollars for putting them in a penile/rehabilitation center that isn't working and that it is proved in failing time and time again, is ten years in a prison enough of a punitive and deterrent action? not even close

They should be branded on the forehead so all could see what they are. Prison does nothing for anybody as it's more like a holiday camp with sex mags, playstations & TV. There should a public branding day in every major city throughout the uk.

Definitely not. I have worked with abused children for many years and believe me very few abusers are even taken to court.
It is heartbreaking for the child who has summoned up the courage to tell and then find that nothing is going to happen to the perpetrator. They feel abused all over again and not believed,

Depends what sort of sexual offence you are talking about? I think a flasher getting 10 years is a little excessive. On the other hand a violent rapist should get life.

Child Molesters, Pedophiles should be given a life sentences when caught doing unthinkable harm to children.
Remember, recidivism rates are very high for those types of crime, as they can not help themselves! And, they are ruining our Children's lives, when they are molested, raped or other dastardly deeds.
Sure, they should be forgiven of thier sins, but, they should be incarcerated so that no more harm can come to a child.
I wish you well..
