Six months? That's a bit optimistic, I give it closer to a fortnight until, as Kez said, the NME come up with something else they want to market.
Live by the simple rule: If it's in the NME it ain't good.

I have to agree with your boyfriend, I too think that New Rave will die out soon. Its just a scene and popular music scenes never last. Just as the old skool rave of the Happy Harcore days came and went (thank god) so too, new rave will perish only to be re-released on New Rave Compilation albums in 10 years time. This style of music never has any longevity to it.

This whole 'New Rave ' scene is absolute crap. A media friendly tag created by NME (who would have guessed it) that makes it even easier for them to sell their narrow minded, immature magazine to impressionable middle class kids. The NME writes about 'getting off your face on MDMA' - if any of these little upstarts even have the contacts to buy a lump of soap bar I'd be very surprised.
Its as if the NME has finally decided that, yes, actually is is OK to listen to some music with dance references rather than the bland guitar bands they usually fellate. Its OK kids because THE NME SAYS - so there.
If you like dance music / rave, please don't use the NME bands as a point of reference as theres so much better out there.
Anyway the Klaxons are over rated.

new rave??? I wasnt aware there was one??
dance music has been a strong force since late 80's. We had house, then latino house, rave, techno, jungle, garage and it just evolves. I have no idea what new rave is, but it may produce a few good anthems then someone will put a new twist on it, and it will be called something else.

new rave? rave has been around for well over a decade, maybe this particular group that you are speaking of won't last very long but you never know, they said rap music wouldn't last either

it will never be as good as the first time round, but music trends are always cyclic, it could last as the whole angry indie guitar band thing that the strokes started is still going strong
