I can be kinda dense at times, so if someone sugar coats something, I sometimes don't get it completely. So I'd rather them be straight up with me so there's no misunderstandings.

It depends on what the news is. I'd prefer "your car was in an accident" sugar-coated and "your sister died in car accident" straight up.

Sugar coated. Everyone wants to give the "straight up" and a lot of times it's overboard hateful. So please everyone, be nice for a change!
