1st of all : yesterday i had this idea, what if you could make a huge poll and ask every single person on the planet this one question "are you happy?", accepting only a yes/no answer? what would the result be? do you think the 2 would be balanced or not and why?

2nd of all : are YOU happy? :)

ps: thanks for your answers so far.
I just wanted to add that I've asked for a "yes/no" answer just cause i'm curious how would someone react in such a cirucumstances because i know that when asked most ppl would say "sometimes" (or smtg similar).

I'm happy sometimes.

I think most people aren't happy. The expectations of the world are unrealistic-we get unrealistic body images shown to us twenty different ways a day, commercials telling us what to buy, pop culture dictating what's cool and what's not, we all hold an ideal for ourselves and others that is impossible to achieve.

So no I think most folks would say they were unhappy if they were honest-but if they were truly introspective and saw the glory in their potential to love and in their potential to create positive change-then more people I think would be happy.

I am happy one day-sad the next-sometimes going back and forth several times throughout the day.

Peace,
Dwight

If you are accepting only y/n than it might be that you would get more 'no' answers. Simply because there is always something that we miss.

But, generally speaking healthy person with roof above head and someone to love and be loved by (cat or dog will do) and enough money for ordinary needs (food and similar) should count it self as happy. And even some people without something of that would count them self happy.

And if you were asking me I'd say more or less, but you asked for precise answer so it must be YES.

Cheers!

1st: I really don't think it would be balanced. There's a lot of people that aren't happy despite having great lives. Most of the time they don't realize how blessed they are to have what they do. They want more, so they're never really happy.

2nd: in general, yes.

First, good Q! The general questions get the best responses! You should be open to more than one word answers ;)

Second: YES!

i used to be depressed but now something has given a new reason to my life. i am happy, but i think that most people truly arent. there are still things i hate, and i'm not always happy, but looking at the broader picture of where my life is going, and not just at the little things that annoy me, i am happy. i learn every day to love life.
