I am an English teacher and a lousy math student. Math is one of those subjects that requires constant practice and repetition, which made me hate it from the beginning. But, if you don't do tons of homework now, while your brain is fairly young and receptive, then you will have a difficult time with math later, and by the time you get to my age, you won't have any skills at all. So be the smart one in your class: do your homework, crazy as it may seem. And, don't be the one to complain. You may think it sucks, but let someone else SAY it sucks--saves you the honor of being "flipped out" on.
Here is a secret about teachers: we all think that our material is VERY IMPORTANT (if I could, I would make the VERY IMPORTANT bold and underline it) for your future. We work very hard making lesson plans to teach you the best way. We analyze new text books, we look into new methods of teaching, and we try out new theories, so we can be the best in our field--we all want to be good at what we do. Sometimes, we overlook the fact that you have other classes and a life outside of the school. We get kind of egoistic--caught up on our own cause--and forget that our class is only a very small part of what you do. If you honestly believe your teacher falls into this category, why not copy your question and all the answers you recieve, and let the copy find its way to her desk, anonymously?
If you are afraid of your teacher, if she is actually yelling at students or threatening them, then her behavior is not proper, and she must be dealt with in a different way. Please go to your parents and a counselor or the principal of your school. Be sure you let your parents know what is going on, before you proceed. (They kind of like to be informed that way--no big surprises).
Good luck.
Do your math!!

don't worry, all math teacher are crazy, that is why they became math teachers....u cannot make her give u less homework unless u talk to a higher authority such as the principal.all u students can make a written complaint signed by everyone then they will have to consider your problem,u cannot do anything unless all students of ur class have unity.....u decide a day when no one of u will do the homework and tell her that it is not possible for u to do it everyday and u won't do any of it unless she gives less homework and if she still does not stop ,then u have no other option than just doing all of ur homework every day

School, as a general rule, are based on the ROTE principal, which means if you do it enough you learn it inside and out. It does work, but it's assembly line education and no one has really figured out a better system that works for everyone equally.
Next, I had a freind who got all As in high school and even took college part time in semester 12 and when he got into Astronomy at UCLA the teacher opened up three big black boards with a math problem on it and told them, over the next TWO semeisters we will disscuss this problem.
He got out of there with a C and it left a major stigma on him!
When you get into Physics and Chemistry it's all math. You have all those laws of motion, which are pure algebra and you have to solve body movement problems.
This is how they got Appollo 13 home after the tanks blew up. Newtonian physics: Lunar gravity, Earth gravity, Speed, mass of the ship, arc around the moon and you look for the right position (sine) to start the ships motors, the right amount of thrust and the right amount of time to use the moon as a slingshot.
The alternatives are simple. YOu don't need much math to unload a truck in a warehouse and it can pay good money, but if you want a sit at a desk job you will need to know some math and how to program and Excell spread sheet.
You will also need to know enough math to fill out a Tax form, unless you want to pay H & R BLOCK $150 each year to do it for you or pay $40 for some Tax program
YOu will also need to know enough math to see if your employers is not cheating you on your paycheck!

If she is doing this on purpose, you should talk to the school counsellor and take some advice. Sometimes teachers have to finish their portions on time for which they give tons of homework or they have their own frustration due to which they shout at children.
Good Luck!

In my personal opinion, teaching of math. should be done in such a way that it becomes an enjoyment to the kids.Yes,there are teachers, who are mostly responsible for making the subject a horror to students. So if by chance you do have a teachr like this, the only thing you may do is to do the homeworks honestly. You are always welcome to take the help of yahoo answer in ase of any difficulty.best of luck !

Sounds like she's got some issues to me.
If she's abusive, lodge a complaint, that'll calm her down some and while she's busy fighting to keep her job mebbe, just mebbe she'll clam down on the homework?
Those that can do, those that cant, teach :p.

She obviously believes in 'old-school' teaching. Anyway, in 'old school' teaching, there's tons of homework. Especially Maths. I don't think you can say anything to her. You may not respect her, but you must repect her position.

Just do it you might learn something. Besides the more you are exposed to in school, the less you will have to figure out cold in the future.
