Lockjaw (tetanus); TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Jaw Syndrome); severe dehydration causing facial muscle cramping); or adverse reaction to certain prescription medicines (which can also cause the jaw to stiffen AND spasm),

It's common name is "clicky jaw". Just means your jaw bone is'nt lined up correctly. It's a pig when it locks in mid-yawn ! Or do you mean the more serious condition of lockjaw?

It is TMJ, my wife has it. Depending on the severity, either a hot pack or a heat lamp helps.
