Did you spill any liquids in the keyboard? I have spilt many things in mine, so since Ive had a pc in 5 years Ive been through about 15 keyboards, the pad is probably stuck, or worn down after a lot of punching on the keys, and its possible the keypad inside the keyboard has slipped, so what you need to do is flip they keyboard over, and take the screws out, and check the pad inside, it's plastic, as I assume Im not the only one who has had my keyboards knocked around, and if that doesnt fix the problen, yeah go to WalMart or KMart and get a cheap one. Good luck Hun, theres not a whole lot you can do on your pc without you @ button.
Btw, some sites except email address without @, just typing at yahoo dot com, but the only ones I know for sure that do are government offices.

WHATEVER THE PROBLEM IS......
If you want to use the "@" sign anywhere, follow these steps:
1. place your cursor where you want to insert the "@" symbol
2. Press and HOLD the "Alt" key (a key near the spacebar)
3. Type 64 (Sixty Four) using the NUMPAD
4. Release the "Alt" key
this will insert the at Symbol at the current cursor position.
Apart from that, If you can use the number "2" (Not Numpad 2)
and cant use "@" using "Shift+2" it means your keyboard is working properly
Also try using the Other shift key. OR just buy a new keyboard

Check you keyboard map matches the region for the keyboard you are using. American and British keyboards have the " and @ swapped over for some reason.

Make sure your dictionary is set right. There should be something saying EN in the bottom right hand corner of your screen??? click that and change it to the correct dictionary.
