By miles Stan Laurel Chaplin was funny but Stan was a genius at his profession he was born funny. You just have to look at Stan and you can not help but laugh with his wiggly ears and that smile that he puts. I have all Laurel and Hardy movies if i am down or stressed out then i always watch Laurel and hardy films its a great anecdote. Watch Way Out West

Stan Laurel. Chaplin's comedy was clever-funny. Stan Laurel's with Laurel & Hardy, was laugh-out-loud funny. That's the difference.

They were both considered great comedians in their time and it is difficult to judge as Laurel was mostly with Hardy[still the funniest double act ever, although Morecambe and Wise come close] and Chaplin never really made it in the "Talkies" whereas laurel became even funnier. I think my answer is this Chaplin was funnier in the silent era and Laurel[along with Hardy] was funnier in the " Talkies"
