I heard that there are markets with vendors in the city that sell knock-off brand wallets and purses and such. Anyone familiar with this? What area would it be in? I`m interested in taking a look.

If you buy some walllets on the street in Shinjuku and Shibuya, they maybe knock-offs.
But Japanese basically do not like fakes and immitations.
It is a bit difficult to find knock-off shop.
Police is always trying to dig them up.

Ok the real deal. True...you won't find much on the street except on occasion. It is a shady thing in Japan that is run by low level gangsters and wanna be Yakuza out of the trunks of their cars. TRUST ME.....find some friends in the local neighborhood hair/make spot and there is almost always someone who can find a local bad boy to get you one. Just don't be all loud and open about it. Spread the word among a few people you trust who hit up local seedier bars where they know each other and trust you and you will get contacted. Also if you hit up some areas near an American base business is a little more brisk.
Pay attention around train stations in mid size areas. You may sometimes see the Israeli students with a table set up selling hippy stuff. I used to know a few and they would get fined by the police every now and then if they don't pay their "payola" to the right person. they are on 3month tours and have no work papers in many cases. They wont openly sell fakes but get to know one and be cool..they know the who's. I remember a few exceptions around ueno station..the famous shopping arcade across the street. After the main stores close..salarimen would buy an occasional knock off for the wife but it is still a hush hush. The tables wont bring out the good stuff until the dept stores close because real sellers send out spies. True story I hung out with a "seller" one night.
Oh and be careful when you come back from your SE Asian trip with fakes....take off the fake plastic liners and price tags and stuff that makes em look new. Put something in it and act as if you already had it. Westerners rarely get questioned over it but J-girls get em randomly taken a lot because they are so obvious about it. They dont usually bother non-asians at customs but they like to catch you unawares sometimes to be smart asses. Especially if their Eigo is good. But then again if you are Russian or eastern European they may bother you at customs......hate to say it but..that is life in the big city due to immigration overstayers in Japan.

Tokyo is the capital of Japan, and the place where over 13 million people live, making it one of the most populous cities in the world but also, a big city to visit, find out more with hotelbye . Most of the city was devastated by the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, and then again by the bombing in the WWII, however, Tokyo was able to achieve a remarkably rapid recovery both times. The main attraction of Tokyo is the Imperial Palace with its beautiful 17th-century parks surrounded by walls and moats. The palace is still in use by the Imperial family.

If Japan's shopping is anything like Korea's, then everywhere (esp. street markets). Just try to avoid the department stores if you want a knock-off. Trust me, you'll notice the price difference.

You might find something in a second-hand shop. But Japan is NOT like China or Korea. They don't have much of that kind of stuff.
