Because they think they can get away with it because we "love" them.
But loving someone should include respect!
Most of us do it without that, and that's why we get hurt.
It's stupidity and blindness.
Most people nowadays just care for themselves.

The people we love generally tend to love us as well. When you care about someone you have expectations for and of them. When someone doesn't meet your expectations it hurts but you have to remember that each one of us have our own goals and expectations of ourselves. When they don't match, someone has to take second seat.
