The convo should flow if you get all nervous thats when you will look like a big dork. the other person shouldnt just answer but also join in on the convo and ask you question. the biggest turn off is to stand there and listen to someone talk about themselves. talk about what they do for a living, what are you up to on weekend, what music there into. if they are a desent person after they reply they should come back with and what about yourself. bla bla bla. let it flow.

If you have a show or two that you like, then watch them! Talk to people about things you like to do - if they like the same things, then you will have a lot to talk about. Ask them what they like to watch, what they like to do, what do they do for a job. Ask them questions and try to find the common ground. You can have an interesting conversation about almost everything - even traffic and the weather... Guys almost always are interested in some kind of sport... People love compliments - if you see something they are wearing or a physical feature of theirs that you like, genuinely tell them. I once told a girl that she had absolutely beautiful legs - she had thought they were fat and she loved me for the comment because girls are so often mean and catty - and I made a friend for life... Be nice be friendly be interested and be interesting... It might not always be what you want to talk about - but you will learn a lot about someone that way...

Watch the news help a bit. The trick is to keep in touch with today's modern society. Go out more, have a feel with other people, then you'll talk without knowing it.

Up to a point. What happened on EastEnders or Emmerdale or Coronation Street or how things are going on X Factor or who will be voted off next on Big Brother are all popular subjects of conversation

What webballs says is true. Also, reading is a great way to not only have things to talk about with other people, but also in enriching your knowledge. Read books, magazines, and newspapers.
