1996 Nissan 200SX - New Battery, Already Dead?

Hey guys, Okay I have a 1996 Nissan 200SX SE-R, And up until recently, the car was fine, until I tried starting the car yesterday, and It was slow to start. I start driving not even a mile down the road, and when I pop it in neutral- the BRAKEand BATTERY lights come on. Immediately I know something is up, so I pull into the gas station to see what the deal is.
Fast forward to today, I popped in a brand new battery from Advance Auto Parts, and Works AMAZING in the morning. By 11PM, It barely starts, and I notice that everything is starting to DIM, headlights, rear lights, etc.
I finally make it home, and just like yesterday, this new battery is completely dead. I wrecked the car last year by hydroplaning into a ditch, and every few months the Serpentine(sp) belt keeps falling off, so I thought I would check that, but I looks to be on.
Does anyone have any clue what might be the problem? I have a minor oil leak, that looks to be low. Any re

alternator is bad your batery is only supposed to start your car after that its your alternators job to supply power to every thing else if your alternater is bad then your baterry tries to do it but it cant do it for very long think of it as a AAA batery tring to power a flash light that uses a D cell its just not gonna last long dont just about any auto parts store will test it for you free you dont have to take it off they can test it while its still on the car they will also recharge your bat. for free

as for your belt poping off you probly have a pully that is miss alinied i dont know much about that you probly need to have a mechanic check that out if it keeps happening after you replace the alternater
