I think these are fundamental skills that should be taught at home...so I feel sorry for the kids that don't know about the importance of personal hygiene and care.

I have three of these kinds of kids in one of my classes at school. They are all in the same clique, coincidentally! But it seems that they should all have learned that you should have personal hygeine at home, or even at school when you have health class and stuff. I have showered regularly since I was in lower elementary, so really, nearly everyone should learn those habits young. Sometimes I really feel ike I need to tell these people for my own sake because i can't breathe around them, its so bad! I think it is wrong and disgusting. I'm going to have to go talk to them about it...

Same as kids at school that do shower and brush their teeth each day, except with a bit more sympathy and understanding for their plight!

I think kids may tend to stay away from those kids. Being Clean is extremely important. Taking a shower, brushing your teeth and wearing deodorant or Cologne etc.

I think it is disgusting. I will tell you what my friends and I did when we were in middle school. (It wasn't very nice but it worked.)

We had this friend who hardley ever showered and I swear she never brusshed her teeth. Besides being a stinky girl she was very nice. We bought shampoo, soap, deodrant (spelling ? sorry), toothpaste, toothbrush, and some perfume. We put it in her locker for her to find. I felt bad watching her open her locker, the look on her face was pure emmbarrassment.

Later, I was glad we did this even though it seemed cruel she got the point and started cleaning up. I guess sense her parents couldn't or wouldn't (whatever the case) make sure she would clean up us friends had to step forward.

I don't remember if we told her we did it or not, but I am sure she knew it was us.

It's not up to the school to teach kids everything. Some things such as personal hygiene should be taught at home.

I feel their parents should have taught them these things at home. I work with a guy that smells terrible. No one wants to work near him, and no one dares to tell him. Maybe one of us should.

Well, you could blame it on lack of parenting, but we all know when we stink! Even if your parents don't teach you, I learned about hygiene in Health class. don't they still teach that?
