Think yourself lucky that you don't live within parking distance of me then. The first time it's the police, but when they say they can't do anything about it, I'll pass it on to somebody who can.
If there's one thing I Will NOT tolerate is bloody annoying car alarms going off if so much as somebody a mile away farts. I make sure mine doesn't, so what's good for the goose etc.
So get it fixed before somebody who DOES live within hearing distance gets something done for you!

I had this problem. My alarm was one of those that you can get from argos, "Sparkrite easyfit" I worked out that the alarm seemed to activate when the interior light faded out. This is because the alarm has a built in current sensing device.
So far the only way ive managed to stop this happening is by switching of the interior light, or if you dont have a switch then remove the bulb. Hope this helps you.

Had this on a Rover 623 a couple years ago, if I were you I'd take the thing back out and save yourself the hassle. They serve no purpose whatsoever, professional car thieves will by-pass them easily, and idiots only go for old junk. The only person an alarm-immobiliser will stop using the car is you.

i had the same problem with a car i had a couple of years ago. one minute the alarm would work fine, and the next it would just go off for no reason. i rang the alarm company who made the alarm and they told me its a sign your car battery is getting wore out. it might be worth bringing your car battery to your local auto shop and have the battery checked. or get in contact with who ever you bought the alarm of and they might be able to correct the problem.
