I'm asking because for 35 years I sat in the gutter and stared at the stars, sick with jealousy of the success of others and very quick to judge...I've still got a long way to go, but through hard graft my life is finally taking a turn, but the higher I fly, the worse I get treated

I don't resent people that are successful through pure hard work, but I do resent people that have got where they are because of Mummy and Daddy's bank account. Those who have things handed to them on a plate have no idea about the real world or sheer graft, yet they have the audacity to throw it in your face at any opportunity. Boring, go away.

No, as feelings of contempt and jealousy are time wasting emotions which only serve to make you feel more resentful and boost the ego of the successful person still further. Much better to spend time and energy making your own life a success.

Definitely not. They should be admired. Against the odds they have shone in a world where people do not want them to shine.
If you were rich and succesful, would you want to be treated with contempt? Let them enjoy their success.

I'm guilty of it from time to time but, for the most part I respect someone who is successful and it gives me a sense of urgency to get something done

Not at all if they became successful by attaining it themselves through hard work and education and the application of their education.

No. You should never resent anyone. Sometimes, I wish I could make them stop, but then I think, everyone probably hates them already, why worry my nerves?

I personally don't resent them but they do occasionally get annoying. However, chances are fame and fortune changes everyone.

They may be fair game but that still does not alter your "miserable" condition. Better to get off your fat **** and do something about it.
