Many of the answers here are stark proof that America is doomed. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams would be ashamed to have wasted their efforts on such imbeciles.

What next? Eliminate trial by jury? If you've done nothing wrong, why not? Wait, you did that already!

Torture? Why not?

Obviously, none of you have ever been falsely accused of a crime. I have, and it stinks!

You people are hopeless morons.

You care more about your freakin' guns than your individual civil rights. Pathetic!

Don't be paranoid. Only the state and federal governments are spying on us 24/7. The locals can only manage 9-5 M-F.
Of course, the "if you've got nothing to hide why are you worried?" argument is slave mentality. The next step is "if you've got nothing illegal, why should you mind if the police come into your car/house/bedroom without a warrant?" and "if you've got nothing to hide, why do you care if the police pat you down on the street."
Some among us can remember that warm, safe feeling when some "policeman" demanded "Your papers, Jew!" ANd boy, was that effective.
Freedom is not stolen in a day, dude, it is taken from us in bits and bites and tiny little "what do I care?" increments. The enemies of freedom are not sharks or tigers, they are termites. And one day your house crashes down.
As for the "War on Terror" ... only idiots ever bought that excuse for domestic oppression, anyway. Like a camera on the street is going to catch the bad guys flying into JFK ... sheesh. Like reading a gazillion blogs a day is going to catch Osama. Bah and other words of scorn.
There is no "War on Terror." There is War in Iraq and War in Afghanistan and gonna be War in Iran and War in Korea, and War in Argentina, and so forth. But the only people spreading "terror" right now are wearing that neat-o velcro cammo with the holographic print.

Oh boy, here we go.

First a conspiracy case and now paranoia. Will you Dem's ever get over 2000, come on guys, you lost.

You will get it all back next month. At least the polls says so. Of course Kerry had a bit of trouble with even the exit polls, didn't he??? Frankly, you are welcome to it. As a conservative, about 6 miles to the right of Rush Limbaugh, I am considering voting Democrat. I hate what you do, but at least you do something. For example, you have made it impossible for me to buy a gun legally in my home state. Now that is great start on disassembling the Constitution. I congratulate you on a superb effort.

I have nothing to hide so I don't give a damn if the government listens in to my phone conversations. We as Americans have a choice. Have someone listen to our outgoing calls (although I doubt if they would listen to mine since I don't make any) or allow the Jihadists gain a deeper foot into our country. I would not stop at anything to eliminate the Muslim Jihadists and I would gladly give up some of my freedom if needed in order to accomplish this. What good is freedom when you are dead? We are in the middle of a war with Muslim extremists and it is something we must win even if it costs us some freedom.

Since I have nothing to hide, and since there is no gnome sitting at a screen watching me, I have no problem with the government doing whatever they have to do in this age of psychopathic murderers roaming the world. They monitor electronic communications WITH A MACHINE.

Would you prefer another surprise bomb going off somewhere near you or several dirty bombs going off at once? That would feed your hate Bush mill, but wouldn't do much for the people who were killed.

there have been kinfolk acts of terror, which contains the anthrax scare and the DC sniper incident. Bush did no longer take care of any of the folk who have been killed by way of them. and in certainty, 9/11 befell on his watch, and we've no way of understanding despite the fact that if the warnings he handed over might have provided a thank you to dodge it. No baby Left in the back of is a boondoggle meant to no longer strengthen training, yet to de-fund public colleges and funnel money into the interior maximum sector. ?°)

It feels good. I have nothing to hide or anything that the government would even care about going on.

I've got nothing to hide and I don't feel any different than before... it makes it easier to catch some one that would break into my car or something... if it ever happened.
