No, its due to mixing. African Americans have a substantial amount of European and Native American genes. Many blacks have white features in their genetic code which are recessive. When they have a child with a white person, these recessive genes pop up.
You become lighter in certain climates because you probably have European genes somewhere along the line.
A bi-racial person who has an African-American parent is usually lighter than a bi-racial who has an African-born, black parent.
Climate change has nothing to do with it. Black people have only been in North America for about 400 years -- yes, ONLY, 400-plus years is nothing in Earth history. It takes about 100,000 years or so for a group of people to develop racial traits in relation to climate - the first humans to step into Europe thousands of years ago were probably much darker than their descendents.

This is a very generalised statement and not accurate. First of all, there are parts of the US that have very hot climates as in the south, and theres no reason that climate would cause lighter pigmentation- the opposite if you are speaking of tanning- which is what you are describing.
Anyone can get tanned if they are fair enough for the change to be noticeable- its not a matter of race.
Also there are Africans who are very fair, so you should be more specific.

You are certainly right! Africans, when they come to America and Europe, see an opening of great opportunities that were closed to them in their troubled home countries in Africa. They take the education opportunities that fellow Blacks take for granted with both hands! They take pride in finishing school for the sake of it! It seems that they and their children seem to take most of the Ivy league college places held by Blacks. Now I'm not really saying that Africans are saints, since there are always some bad apples amongst the good ones. It seems that western born and raised African children tend to become somewhat disappointing the further their generations apart from their African roots. It is a cold hard fact that African immigrants in America and Europe are a real model minority waiting to reach greater heights with only racism to left to overcome!

Black American are okay with race mixing (there are even a self-hate bunch who encourage it). Also as slaves they were raped by their white masters producing mixed (lighter skinned) children. Climate has VERYYYY little to do with it) ex. Most light skin "black" celebrities are mixed on TV

Actually, you may be sensibly avoiding the sun, which in the Mideast can fry the hide off a goat.
But the short answer is "yes." Many ******* Americans have an admixture of caucasian genes in their background. It's not that "blacks" are changing themselves, more that they are gradually changing their children by having spouses with less melanin in their skin.
Cheers.

african american are fairer because of being mixed with other cultures and we become fair because of the lack of sun rays in some areas.

black people are different colors because of what we are mixed with. Sure people are lighter in the winter and darker in the summer, but the overall light and darkskin depends on genes.

Black people in the northern hemispheres aren't all black sometimes. They are mixed with white and native Americans.
But it is curious to wonder if the interracial relationships continue what will happen Lil?
