It is an academic question to answer an assignment - the motherboard manual isn't very clear on this.

The motherboard has spaces for two of each - the manual has been translated from another language and isn't clear as to whether it can take two DDR, two SD or one of each.......

Right, I got there! Although the motherboard will take both DDR and SD the answer the tutor is looking for that if I install a pair of modules they should be the same and they can't be mixed. Why did he make me go round the houses to find out rather than just puting it down in plain English????

For your mobo (and all similar mobos) the answer is NO, it's either one or the other. If you have to choose, choose DDR as it's faster and probably cheaper (as DDR is more common place these days).

NO, I have a mobo similar to yours. It has 2 DDR slots and 2 SD slots. I was running 1gb of SD for a long time then upgraded to 1.5gb of DDR and yes I removed the SD ram as you can't use both at the same time. You can either use DDR or the SD slots seperately but not at same time..Thanks

No, the physical shape is different. ddr has one notch, sd has 2.
