believe it or not, it is a symptom of low blood iron - call your doc - he may want to test your levels. I did EXACTLY the same thing at 37 weeks and my iron was extremely low - my doc put me on iron pills.

I had a really bad ice craving I'd go to the seven 11 and pick up a bag of ice every morning and munch on it till the next morning and do it again it got to the point where I'd wake in the middle of the night just to eat ice... I suggest you cut the ice up in smaller pieces and just suck on it that way you don't crack another tooth for me the satisfaction was the cold of the ice and the flavor of biting down into it I was always hot so it tasted so good to me...pregnancy is so weird, I would suggest stop eating it but who are we kidding your preggo's....lol. Good luck! :0)

When I became pregnant for the third time with my daughter, I loved ice more than sex! I was told that it has something to do with our blood levels. I don't know why but I would go grocery shopping and have the girl behind the deli counter bring me a cup of the small ball ice, you know the ice that they keep the seafood chilled with. It's so much easier to crack than ice from the home freezer. It can't hurt you physically, but I have been told that over a long period of time it could damage your vocal chords, I'm a singer, and I have noticed that I no longer have the range I used to. Be careful, I know it tastes good, don't let it damage your throat.

Maybe you crave ice because your baby is using up a lot of your water. Also you might be running at a slightly higher temperature and therefore your body wants to cool down. Alternatively it could just be a craving, like when women want to eat Jelly crystals without any water with them.

When you are pregnant your body temperature is raised a little. This could have something to do with it. The coolness of the ice could also aide any acidic reflux you may have, or if the baby is pressing against your stomach it may be soothing to the belly. Or your body could be craving the taste and smell of icy water!!!

its nothing to do with the frozen water- its the same reason ravers grind their teeth- but since most people dont do this at all, your body simply craves what it remembers as being its best source of iron- when you cram those veins in your teeth, your brain senses it as one of your natural defense-reflexes(alot of people do it when theyre angry w/o realising it), and rushes iron to your system...to help with strength- chances are youre aenemic(suffering from low-iron, to save your teeth-i suggest a childrens vitamin fortified w/ iron-childrens vitamins break down easier, and since its for an increase in iron wich your body isnt used to-it wont be so harsh as to constipate you)... the reason it tastes so good is that everything that our bodys need will taste good-this is why people have such varying tastes in food-not everyone likes what their brought up with, its also the reason theres been several bills every year in various states trying to get force-feeding to be veiwed as abuse- because if something tastes terrible to you- there may be good health reasons for you not to eat it(and if your wondering why some poisonous foods taste good-its the same reason, theres just something else in them that your tongue is chemicaly attracted to) although i wouldnt worry too much about it, i dont think youre in too much danger from all that fruit cake your mom tried to make you scarf down at christmas :)

Because it's yummy!!
I know my mum was the same way, when she was pregnant with all three of us. It's just one of those weird things that pregnant women crave.
