It's a fair point. I guess it's the side effect of the times we live in.
In the past very little was taboo as a subject for humour, nowadays however there is so much that can no longer be laughed at. As it's deemed politically incorrect or likely to result in a lawsuit. It can hardly be surprising that programme makers resort to what is easiest to get away with. In the case of Britain anything crude and vulgar, these being things which offend only the morally upstanding and people with an ounce of intelligence.
Neither of whom the powers that be have any fear of offending.

I was under the impression that Benny Hill is much loved in America, we also offer sarcasm and high wit, something you Yanks don't seem to comprehend, which seems strange as the Canadians do get it, maybe because they had enough sense not to start a war of Independence. If I'm not mistaken they cant stand you Americans either...

Look we taught humour to a dull, predictable American society. Granted, they have grabbed the ball and run with it and currently make the best comedy films ( we make the best gentle romantic comedies - not really my cup of tea). But we have and continue to make intelligent and twisted comedy programmes of the highest order.

British comedy is the most funny and versatile in the world with many facets.
Unfortunately the Americans buy the Ideas(they have run out) then "adjust" them to fit American audiences.
it all gets lost in translation..
Funny that as we are supposed to speak the same language!!!!!

What British comedy have you been watching? There's loads of good stuff out there at the moment. I thought Green Wing and Peep Show were both great and not a hint of poo jokes in sight.

The UK has the best humour in the world but it's being stifled by a dictatorial government.
It's only so called alternative comedians that churn out the dross.
